In 1979 it re-opened as the Steveston Museum and Post Office and continues offering exceptional postal services to locals and visitors. In 2010,  the Japanese Fishermen's Benevolent Society building was moved behind the Steveston Museum from its original location on No. 1 Road and Chatham Street. Today, visitors can discover the contributions made by the Japanese Canadian community to Steveston, through its exhibits. The Steveston Tram museum features the beautifully restored Tram Car 1220 as its centrepiece. Visitors can climb about and imagine what it was like to travel on Richmond’s Interurban rail system. Enjoy interactive exhibits about early 20th century transportation, and the life of commuting workers and residents of Steveston in the early 1900s. Admission is free.

TALK provides people over 50 with inexpensive, creative and stimulating learning activities, including non-credit courses, field trips, special events, and Philosophers' Corners, all planned and run by volunteers. Events are held at Richmond, Surrey, Cloverdale and Langley KPU campuses, elsewhere in the community and also online. Course presenters are drawn from current or retired KPU instructors, other post-secondary institutions, and community members with special expertise. TALK is a great way to keep your mind and social connections active.

The Thompson Community Centre and adjacent park is located where Granville meets Railway. Parking can be accessed off of Lynas Lane. Facilities include a multi-purpose room, activity room, banquet hall, a gymnasium, a fully equipped fitness room, mezzanine, two kitchens, and outside playgrounds. The park has soccer fields, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts with lights, a roller hockey/lacrosse box with lights, and walking paths. A variety of programs are offered for people of all ages.
