Frequently asked questions

When should I set up a power of attorney?

As soon as possible. In BC, an Enduring Power of Attorney lets someone manage your finances if you become incapable. A Representation Agreement covers health care decisions. Both should be set up while you have capacity.

Is legal aid available for seniors?

Yes. The People's Law School, Access Pro Bono, and local legal aid offices offer free or low-cost legal information and referrals for seniors. Some elder law firms offer free initial consultations.
